Identification Stickers for Watercraft
THE U–S COAST GUARD WANTS TO REMIND THE PUBLIC THAT SAFETY IS THE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY ON ALL BOATS EVEN PADDLE BOATS.
THIS WEEKEND THE COAST GUARD IS LAUNCHING OPERATION PADDLE SMART ENCOURAGING EVERY BOATER TO PLACE A VESSEL IDENTIFICATION STICKER ON THEIR BOAT.
EACH YEAR THE U–S COAST GUARD SPENDS COUNTLESS HOURS SEARCHING FOR BOATERS THEY BELIEVE ARE MISSING AFTER FINDING ABANDONED CANOES, KAYAKS, AND ROWBOATS ALONG THE LAKESHORE.
THE COAST GUARD SAYS IT IS ALSO IMPORTANT TO KNOW AND FOLLOW BASIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN YOU HEAD OUT ON ANY BOAT.
FOR INFORMATION ABOUT BOATING SAFETY CLASSES CONTACT THE MARQUETTE COAST GUARD STATION AT 226–3312.
