MARQUETTE — One local organization is in need of volunteers with a positive attitude to help the homeless population in Marquette. The Room at the Inn is in need of volunteers to help out on shifts at the Warming Center on Washington Street in downtown Marquette, especially on the weekends.

Volunteers would be working in 3–hour shifts, and would be helping serve breakfast or dinner, and there is even an informative session that you can attend if you’re interested in volunteering.

“If you’re looking to volunteer but you’re uncertain about what we do or how it works, you’re also welcome to stop into our volunteer social, which is the first Sunday of every month here at the Warming Center,” said Nick Emmendorpher, the executive director of Room at the Inn. “It’s from 6:30 to 7:30, and we serve a meal, and it’s a good chance for our volunteers to get together, socialize with each other, talk about concerns and questions, and also to attract any new volunteers.”

If you would like to volunteer, you can call the Warming Center at (906)225–1521 and ask for Jennifer, or stop at the center to talk to Jennifer in person.
