Students participate in “March For Our Lives”

MARQUETTE — Cities all around America gathered on Saturday for the “March for our lives” movement put on by High School students right here in our community.

Hundreds of people gathered in seventeen degree weather to march for gun safety. Put on by two Marquette High School Students, in response to the Parkland Shooting that happened in February.

“Today we are here to say enough to gun violence in our schools across the united states. We are to stand behind the students of Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida. We are here to say enough with them and stand with them,” said Clara Biolo Thompson, March Organizer.

Students aren’t backing down, they hope their message will help bring awareness and change about gun safety to their community.

“Its amazing to feel that we got to start a voice and start this for our community and let all community members share this with us is amazing. Being a sibling march to the one in D.C. is amazing just to have Marquette on the dot on the map,” said Clara Smith, March Organizer.

The March started on Washington street and ended at the Marquette Commons with powerful speeches from Marquette High School Students. Three to four hundred people from the community showed up to show their support.
