Volunteers needed for AARP Tax Program

MARQUETTE — Every Tuesday and Friday of tax season, the Senior Center in Marquette offers free tax help for families or individuals with low or moderate income.

Community volunteers prepare both state and federal taxes and file them for free, following both IRS and AARP Tax Aid Program protocols. Appointments are necessary and can be made by contacting the Senior Center.

Unfortunately, all of the appointments for this filing season are booked due to a lack of volunteers.

“We are only able to do so much and we are in desperate need. If anybody would like to volunteer, they can go ahead and call the Senior Center in Marquette, Negaunee or Gwinn,” said Richard Brich, local coordinator for the AARP Tax Program in Marquette. “We would love to have as many volunteers to provide more service to the people.”

Volunteers don’t have to work directly with taxpayers — they can be greeters, technical coordinators or partnership and communication coordinators. For more information on becoming a volunteer, email mqtaarptax@charter.net or click HERE.
