Chamber launches wellness program for area residents
ISHPEMING — Starting Saturday, the Greater Ishpeming Negaunee Chamber of Commerce is encouraging people to get healthy in the form of a wellness program.
The Chamber-Wide Wellness Program was created for people to highlight things that promote a healthy lifestyle. Those who participate in the challenge will have the opportunity to win a cash prize by participating in five events a month.
Those events can be anything from joining a gym, taking part in a yoga class or having a check-up at the doctor’s office.
“If its gardening or volunteering for a 5K, going to a diabetes awareness class, going to a cooking class or running a 5K, it very much varies,” said GINCC executive director Danielle LaCavalla. “Ishpeming was voted a finalist for the Governor’s Fitness Award, so that provided motivation for the campaign.”
Every ‘rack card’ that’s filled out a month enters you in to a drawing to win $100. The campaign runs through June 30th.
