Candy store named one of the best in the state
MARQUETTE –It’s been a staple in Downtown Marquette for over 120 years and for good reason. From chocolates to sea salt caramels and even ice cream, Donckers has made a name for itself beyond the Upper Peninsula.
Donckers has been named one of the nine best candy shops by Best of Michigan. The article calls Donckers a place that knows candy in a big way.
The upstairs restaurant was also mentioned in the piece. Donckers executive chef and co-owner Shane Baker says everyone there has worked real hard to solidify themselves as a great place to come for confectionery treats.
“We always keep that if you want to try something, just ask. We’ll let you try anything that we have,” said Baker. “It’s especially great to see people that came here as a child and they come back. The expressions and the nostalgic feelings that they seem to experience it’s definitely one of the highlights.”
JoAnn’s Fudge on Mackinac Island also made the list of the nine best candy shops in the state.
