Coast guard airlifts crewmember off freighter after medical emergency
MARQUETTE — According to the U.S. Coast Guard Traverse City Post, an Air Station MH-65D helicopter working alongside a 45′ Response Boat-Medium from USCG Station Marquette conducted a medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) of a crewmember from the 710-foot Canadian flagged M/V Algowood this afternoon.

The Algowood was located nearly 80 miles north east of Marquette, Michigan on Lake Superior when the captain contacted the U.S. Coast Guard Great Lakes reporting a crewmember with chest pains.
The MH-65 helicopter hoisted the crewmember from the ALGOWOOD and delivered the patient to UP Health System – Marquette.
