Sentence delayed in felonious assault case
MARQUETTE — A Marquette woman facing a felonious assault charge was not sentenced this morning in Marquette County Circuit Court.
Instead, Ebonie Burns, 26, was granted a delay of sentence. She will spend one year under supervision, and the charge against Burns will be dismissed if she successfully completes that supervision period.
Burns pleaded guilty to the felonious assault charge in April. She was arrested along with Kowayne Burns, 38, in connection to an assault in a parking lot on West Washington Street in Marquette in March. He received a similar delay of sentence.
Burns will be scheduled for a hearing in about nine months to evaluate her progress.
