Local high school helps those in need

NEGAUNEE — Students and staff at Negaunee High School have all come together to feed people in need.

The Feeding America West Michigan food bank came to Negaunee High School to distribute 20,000 pounds of food to people in the community. This is the third time since 2015 that Negaunee High School has been a part of the Mobile Pantry program.

“Well this is our third annual mobile food pantry that we’ve been involved with and it’s a just a great opportunity for our students and our school involved and helping with the local community and we enjoy it and by the end of the evening, you really feel good about what you’ve done to help people out” said Negaunee Principal Mark Marana.

There was a variety of food products available, such as fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and baked goods. The students at Negaunee High School were happy to volunteer and help those in need.

“I decided to volunteer because I think it’s a really good way to give back to the community of Negaunee and yeah, I think it’s a really good program” said Negaunee Senior Alec Boehmer.

Anyone in need of food in the area is always encouraged to attend the mobile food drives.
