Non-profit looking for people to symbolically ‘Adopt a Child’

MARQUETTE — A non–profit group in Marquette is looking for people to ‘Adopt A Child’ this Christmas. For more on that story, here’s ABC 10’s Chelsea Snyder.

There are many ways for kids to receive gifts this season, from loved ones, Santa, and some from donations.

For the past seven years, the UP community has helped create joyous memories for the children at Teaching Family Homes with their Adopt–a–Child program.

“Simply, you certainly don’t adopt a child for the Christmas season but our kids fill out wish lists and families adopt that child and that wish list and go shopping for them,” said Rich Rossway. “And what it does is allow our children to have a memorable holiday season.”

Whether it be five dollars, or a pair of socks, any donation is appreciated.

“A lot of people want to adopt out children and they want to shop for them, that is part of the Christmas spirit and we love that,” said Rossway. “Additionally people can just do a monetary donation and they can range from as little as five dollars to we have had people give five hundred dollars.”
