Open house at the Michigan State Police Post

MARQUETTE — Michigan State Police, Marquette County Dispatch, Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, and the Negaunee Regional Communications Center will all be working together on Wednesday to put together an open house.

The public is encouraged to stop by the Michigan State Police, Negaunee Post anytime between three and five p.m. to get a unique opportunity for an inside look at not only what a police officer does, but how they do their job.

“They can actually see the equipment that we use and try to gain an understanding of what we do on a daily basis. It’s an atmosphere where they can ask us questions, or if they’re concerned about different safety aspects that are going on in our area. They can let us know what’s going on so we can address those issues,” said Stacey Rasanen, a Community Service Trooper at the Negaunee Michigan State Police Post.

Tours of the post including the Marquette County Emergency Operations Center will be available along with evidence displays and canine demonstrations. The jaws of life with the vehicle extrication truck will also be available. If that wasn’t enough motivation to go already, coffee and cake will be provided as well.
