Wildcats compete in X-C championships
HOUGHTON, Mich. — The Northern Michigan University Nordic skiing team continued action at the U.S. Cross Country Skiing Championships competing in the classic sprint races.
The Wildcats advanced three skiers to the quarterfinal round, including two women’s skiers and one men’s.
NMU freshman Vivian Hett was the top finisher for the Wildcats on the women’s side clocking a time of 5:23.56 in the quarterfinals to place 13th overall. Senior Jordyn Ross also advanced to the quarterfinals clocking a time of 5:31.25 to finish in 28th place.
Sophomore Fredrik Schwencke was the only men’s athlete to advance to the quarterfinal round finishing in 13th after clocking a time of 4:30.09. Senior Erik Soderman was fastest for the Wildcat men placing 38th overall with a time of 4:40.65.
The Wildcats return to action on Thursday competing on the 20 and 30K classic races at the U.S. Championships.
