Huskies hold intrasquad scrimmage
HOUGHTON – It was all systems go Saturday morning at Sherman Field, where the Michigan Tech University football team scrimmaged against each other.
Everyone was fair game, except for the quarterbacks. To ensure the safety of the signal callers, the quarterbacks wore red jerseys. The other players on offense wore white and the defense wore their black practice jerseys.
Senior quarterback Tyler Scarlett looked sharp running the first team offense. The school’s all-time leading passer was on target with every ball that came out of his hand. Sophomore wide receiver Brandon Cowie didn’t drop a ball that came his way.
On the other side of the ball, Senior defensive lineman Cameron Allen collapsed the pocket on the quarterbacks a couple of times. Defensive back DeShawn Nelson showed off his instincts, breaking up a number of passes in the secondary, making life tough on the wide receivers.
The Huskies practice lasted just under two hours. The team will hold a scrimmage open to the public on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. The scrimmage is free and open to the public.
ABC 10 Sports Director Jerry Taylor will have much more on the Huskies football team on Monday.
