Downtown Ishpeming gears up for Festival of Treasures
Downtown Ishpeming may look a little different from the last time you visited. The city has been hard at work updating the infrastructure, taking care of blemishes on the roads and sidewalks.
The makeover was finished just in time for the city’s Festival of Treasures, a street festival held on July 3rd every year. The festival is held on the 3rd to avoid clashing with Independence Day festivities.
“We’ve listened to some suggestions of folks about the timing, and that they work and they want to come after work, so we have started it later this year and it’s ending later,” Ishpeming Business Association member David Aeh said. “We’re trying to accommodate as many people as possible with the schedule that we have enacted for this Festival of Treasures.”
Attendees will be able to wander the thoroughfare participating in events that appeal to everyone from children to adults, listening to music from local performers, and dining on the cuisine that downtown Ishpeming has to offer.
“Come on down to downtown Ishpeming,” Aeh said. “The entire core of the downtown will be our Festival of Treasures street fair. We’ll look forward to seeing a big turnout on that Thursday.”
The Festival of Treasures will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday.
