Drug Prevention Money Awarded to Northern Michigan

Federal grant money will be coming to Northern Michigan communities for drug prevention efforts.

U.S. Congressman Bart Stupak announced today 300–thousand will come from the office of national drug control policy.

The goal of the funding is to reduce alcohol, tobacco, and illegal drug

use among youth.

The grants were awarded as part of the office of

Northeast Michigan Community Partnership Coalition in Alpena received

$100,000.

Pathways to healthy living in Marquette received $100,000 for the

Marquette County Substance Abuse and Violence Prevention Coalition.

Menominee County Intermediate School District in Menominee received

$100,000 for the health youth coalition of Marinette and Menominee.
