NMU Students being Back is Good for Local Businesses
Many young adults are now calling Marquette their home as Northern Michigan University has started classes this week and it is a good thing for the area.
Both on campus and out in the community, everywhere you look is a little bit busier.
Now that college students have returned, more people, means more business for the Marquette area.
Checker Cab of Marquette has been busy since students have returned.
Since last week, they have put out more drivers and more cars due to an increase in business.
Focus Salon is a new salon opening today in Marquette.
They hope now that students are back in town, this will mean new customers.
Casualties Skate, Snow, & Surf is also looking forward to students being back.
They have both student employees and customers and like to give back by giving NMU students a discount.
Fall enrollment is expected to be close or slightly up from last year, when 9,300 students attended NMU.
Those numbers mean local businesses are hoping and expecting a boost in sales.
