MDOT Gives H-58 Paving Money
Back when Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore was created in the ’60s, many U.P. residents wanted a new road from Munising to Grand Marais along with it.
The idea was that it would make the lakeshore more attractive and more accessible to visitors.
By the end of next year, that longtime wish will finally come true.
It’s not an entirely new road.
But the Alger County Road Commission has just received the money it needs to finish the long-awaited repaving of H-58.
MDOT has just given the Road Commission more than $1.2 million through MDOT’s Local Jobs Today program.
The last phase of the newly-repaved H-58, starting near Kingston Corners, should be finished next summer.
