4 to 15 Years for Accidental Shooting Death
A St. Ignace man will spend the next 4 to 15 years in prison for the shooting death of a friend.
21-year-old Roy Roach pleaded guilty to manslaughter last month.
The maximum he could have received was 15 years.
Roach accidentally shot 19-year-old Seth Tamlyn of St. Ignace 6 months ago.
Roach was cleaning a gun that he thought was empty, but it was actually loaded.
He aimed it at Tamlyn and fired.
Roach called 911 and reported it.
But Tamlyn died from the single gunshot wound before police could get there.
Roach was originally charged with 2nd-degree murder in addition to the manslaughter charge.
