Brewery raising money for food pantry
A Marquette brewery is trying to encourage beer drinkers to do some good for the community.
The Ore Dock Brewing Company began its Hops For Help campaign at Thanksgiving last year and has now brought it back. For every pint sold of Direct Descendant ale, 50 cents will be contributed to the Marquette St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.
“We were fortunate enough to get a few key accounts downtown to partner with us,” Adam Robarge of Ore Dock said. “Stucko’s, the Landmark Inn, the Wild Rover, L’Attitude and Breakers Roadhouse are all on board for the Hops For Help campaign. Each business will be contributing their portion of sales directly to St. Vincent de Paul.”
Direct Descendant is a special release variety. It’s a Belgian-style copper ale. Ore Dock wants to eventually expand Hops For Help to include other varieties as well.
“That’s kind of our idea,” Robarge said. “Even with just naming a beer, we love to try to give beer a life outside of itself in a pint glass, and with this campaign, we see beer having its own life outside of a tap room, and I think the possibilities are limitless for that.”
The Ore Dock Hops For Help campaign will continue through Sunday night.
