One driver ticketed in Iron Mountain accident
A 58-year-old woman is in the hospital after a two car accident this morning in Iron Mountain. The Iron Mountain Police Department says the accident happened just before 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Carpenter Ave. and H Street.
According to police, the 58-year-old Iron Mountain woman was driving eastbound on West H Street when she failed to stop and yield for a flashing red traffic signal. She then entered the intersection where she was struck broadside by a vehicle driven by a 28-year-old man from Iron Mountain, who was traveling south on Carpenter Avenue. As a result of the collision, the vehicle driven by the woman crashed into Fredrick’s Floral causing minor damage to the building.
The woman was taken to Dickinson County Hospital by Beacon Ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. She was also issued a citation for suspected Disregard Flashing Red Signal. The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Kingsford Public Safety, VA Police and the Iron Mountain fire Department all assisted at the scene.
