Pioneer Surgical employees reach milestone
Pioneer Surgical Technology, Inc. was founded in Marquette in 1992, and has developed successful products in the Spine, Biologics, Orthopedics, and Cardiothoracic markets.
But, it has also created a successful workplace for several long-term employees. Pioneer has several facilities throughout the U.S. and in Houten, The Netherlands, employing nearly 300 people worldwide.
Five employees at the Marquette facility recently celebrated their twentieth year of employment with the company. CEO Daniel Webber thanked the group for their years of service at an all company meeting, where each was presented with a commemorative gift.
The honored employees are Rich Vidlund of Negaunee, Ardelia Zurawski of Negaunee Township, Marty Hillock of Harvey, and Bill Summersett and Kelly Herriman of Marquette. The five are among the original employees of Pioneer Surgical Technology.
“It’s rewarding to know that in the small role I play, I can still make a difference in someone else’s life,” says Ardelia Zurawski, Shipping Associate.
Rich Vidlund, Prototype Associate, agrees. “I love coming to work and the work I do to help people.”
“I get a lot of satisfaction being able to work with our young talent,” says Marty Hillock, Production Manager. “The people have always been what Pioneer was about and still is.”
Bill Summersett, Planner, adds, “I consider the people I work with more like friends than coworkers. I feel like everyone works together to accomplish a goal and to improve each other’s performance.”
One of the first hired in 1992, Kelly Herriman started with Pioneer because she believed there would be good career growth with the start-up company.
Twenty years later, she says, “It gives me a sense of accomplishment to work with others to build a company that has the potential to be great.”
Headquartered in Marquette, the global company develops, manufactures and markets biologic, orthopedic, cardiothoracic and spine applications designed to provide solutions for surgeons and improved outcomes for patients.
