New Presque Isle playground plans move forward
Plans to build an inclusive playground on Presque Isle Park have been approved by the Marquette City Commission. The site of the playground seems to be a natural fit between the Moosewood Nature Center and the Island Store.
Kids will be able to incorporate some learning into their day in–between playing at the park. Most importantly, it brings a facility, unlike any other, to the county.
The closest venue with inclusive amenities was built five years ago in Cedar River between Menominee and Escanaba.
The 678 acre Wells Sate Park served as a template for their idea, which will be built on a slightly smaller scale. But the scenery and state of the art equipment won’t be compromised, thanks to some local help.
The next step is fundraising. Grants are a possibility, but local support is always helpful. Anyone who wants to lend a hand or assist in the process can contact the committee at 906–228–6922.
