Fatal accident in Mackinac County
Troopers form the St. Ignace Post of the Michigan State Police say a medical condition may have led to a two vehicle accident over the weekend that claimed the life of one driver.
They say JoAnn Fountain, 66, of DeTour, was killed when her vehicle crossed the center line and hit another vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Although the investigation is continuing, police say a medical condition could have been a factor in the crash.
The accident happened about 1:37 p.m. Saturday on M-134 near S. Short Street in Clark Township.
Police say Fountain was westbound on M-134 and hit an eastbound vehicle driven by a 65 year old man from Cedarville. He was taken to War Memorial Hospital by Clark Township Ambulance where he was treated and released.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and airbags deployed in both vehicles.
MSP was assisted at the scene by Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office and Clark Township Fire Department.
