Marquette Spring Cleaning Kickoff
Spring may have finally sprung after all, and for most people that means it’s time to clean. The Marquette Beautification Committee will be doing their part this weekend during their Spring Cleaning Kickoff.
If the weather cooperates, a large contingent of cleaners will be meeting in front Huron Mountain Bakery in Marquette, this Saturday at 10 a.m. to start the citywide effort.
“Basically we’re just looking for trash; the trash that blows in after the snow melts. You’ve got paper cups, paper bags, and just litter. We hope that residents and businesses will clean up their own areas, of course. We welcome everybody to put out some flowers as soon as possible to beautify the city. We have quite a reputation for being really clean here. I think people are paying more attention, and it shows,” explained Jill LaMere, a member of the Marquette Beautification Committee.
The City of Marquette, McDonald’s, and Heritage Motors sponsor the cleaning crew, and provide trash bags, coupons for volunteers, and distribution centers for supplies.
