Last day for U.P. girls in ‘Healthy Michigan” contest
The finalists have been chosen and now it’s up to Michigan — and the U.P. — to decide which student will win a school assembly with Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford in Blue Cross Blue Shield’s “Make the Play for Healthy Habits” contest.
Five finalists have been chosen, including Mackenzie Pentland an eighth grader from Sault Area Middle School in Sault Ste. Marie and Fiona Wing, a seventh grader from Three Lakes Academy in McMillan.
Students in grades 4-8 from across Michigan entered this year’s contest, which asked students what they would do to make Michigan healthier. The finalists’ videos are posted on A Healthier Michigan Facebook page.
Currently about 2.5 million adults and 400,000 children are considered obese in Michigan.
