City of Marquette open house
The public was invited to meet city of Marquette employees Tuesday afternoon.
The city held their annual open house, allowing the public to meet the city commissioners, the police and fire chief, the city manager and more. This year, students were encouraged to come and received extra credit from their government classes.
The first 30 kids to visit each booth received a free Marquette Frisbee. Not only did the city encourage students to come, but also the general public as a way to meet employees in a less formal setting.
City departments sponsored interactive displays. There was also the debut of the Marquette Board of Light and Power’s ‘Pedal–A–Watt’, a bicycle–powered generator.
The generator showed how much energy it takes to power one LED light bulb versus a regular light bulb.
