Operation Action U.P. winners announced
Marquette, Mich. – Operation Action U.P. held its Annual Meeting today in the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center at Northern Michigan University. The meeting featured a workforce development panel in the morning with Senator Tom Casperson, Joe Quick (Michigan Economic Development Corporation) and Tom Watkins (TDW & Associates). The afternoon panel focused on infrastructure in the Upper Peninsula with Kirk Steudle (Michigan Department of Transportation) and Thomas Nagy (MJ Electric).
The meeting also recognized four businesses, presenting them with an Award of Excellence. The award winners are outstanding businesses or major institutional employers who have contributed to the economic well-being of their area in the Upper Peninsula. Nominations were solicited from businesses, chambers of commerce, economic developers and the general public.

Aggressive Manufacturing Innovations Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
Aggressive Manufacturing Innovations Industries is a Tier 1-2 supplier of fluid handling systems to both automotive and nonautomotive customers. They expanded operations in 2010 with the Sault location, bringing over 85 manufacturing jobs to the area.

Heritage Garden Wind Farm Garden Township, Mich.
The Heritage Garden Wind Farm is the first wind energy generating facility in the Upper Peninsula. Over an annual period, the wind farm will generate in excess of 70 thousand megawatt hours of renewable clean electricity, equivalent to the amount of energy needed to power 45% of Delta County’s households. The Wind Farm also contributes 10 million dollars to the local economy.
