A Minnesota man was taken to the hospital Wednesday after a snowmobile accident in Ontonagon County.
The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a snowmobile personal injury accident at 1:13 p.m. Wednesday. The incident occurred on Trail #13 approximately six miles North of Bergland.
The Sheriff’s Office personnel responded by rescue sled with Sonco ambulance to the scene. The driver, 30 year old George Jesse McFarland of Minnesota, transported to Grand View Hospital in Ironwood by Beacon ALS.
Police say they believe McFarland failed to negotiate a curve in the trail, causing the snow machine to leave the trail and hit a large boulder.
The accident caused extensive injuries to the driver and minor damage to the snowmobile. The accident is still under investigation.
