Christmas play performed in Harvey
After months of rehearsing, a church in Harvey performed a play with a twist on a holiday classic Friday night.
Silver Creek Church put on a play called “The Gospel According to Scrooge” for community members. The play was a twist on the Christmas favorite, “A Christmas Carol”.
The play followed the same general story as “A Christmas Carol”, but also talked about the meaning of Christmas. Instead of being visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, Scrooge was visited by the Angels of Christmas Past, Present and Future. Children also sang traditional Christmas songs between scenes.
“The Gospel According to Scrooge” had been put on by other churches in the past, but was absent from the community for many years. After putting on a more kid-oriented play last year, Silver Creek Church decided to create a play that would include adults from the church and have a recognizable theme for the community.
Silver Creek Church will also have performances Saturday, December 15th at 6 p.m., and Sunday, December 16th at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Admission is free. Childcare is provided and seating is limited.
