Lost Hunter Found in Southern Mqt. County
A Marquette woman is safe this weekend after getting lost while deer hunting early Friday evening in southern Marquette County.
The Marquette County Sheriff’s Department says she is 61-year-old Karen Babcock.
She shot a deer shortly before dark about a half-mile south of County Road 426 in Wells Township, near the Knotty Pine Bar.
After tracking the deer for a while, she got lost shortly after 5:30 pm and called 911 from her cell phone.
Marquette County Central Dispatch got a GPS coordinate from her phone.
They gave Babcock’s location to deputies, who found her and guided her back to her vehicle without incident.
