Portage Health restricts visitors
HANCOCK – Due to high occurrences of illness to children in the area, the Portage Health Family Birthing Center will be temporarily closed to visiting children.
Although we recognize the inconvenience of this necessary and temporary change in policy, the change in visitation is effective immediately and is being put in place to protect the health of our newborns. This is effective for children under the age of 12, and anybody experiencing any respiratory illness symptoms.
Healthy adults are still allowed to enter the birthing center during regular visiting hours (daily, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.), but until Portage Health officials feel the number of local illnesses is significantly lowered, children will not be allowed to enter.
