Wintry roads blamed for Iron Co. rollover
Slippery roads may be to blame for a one vehicle accident this morning in Iron County. It happened just before 8 a.m. on US–141 near the Net River in Hematite Township.
The Iron County Sheriff Department says a northbound vehicle driven by Leslie Freund, a 21–year–old Kenton man, went out of control on the ice covered road, and overturned in the ditch. Freund was not injured in the crash.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Northstar EMS and Northland Towing and Recovery.
Police urge drivers to be cautious when driving in more wintry conditions. They say road conditions changed dramatically this morning as travelers moved through Iron County. Conditions were clear and dry south of Crystal Falls, scattered slippery spots were found between Crystal Falls and Amasa, and north of Amasa roads were ice covered.
