Statewide Student Mock Election
From Michigan Government Television:
Michigan Government Television (MGTV) would like to announce the results of the MGTV Michigan Student Mock Election. The final online voting results for the statewide races for Michigan House of Representative, Michigan Supreme Court and 6 ballot proposals for the student mock election are available now on MGTV’s website.
***It is notable that in the student mock election, all 6 state ballot proposals passed and the three top vote getters in the Michigan Supreme Court race were Stephen Markman, Bridget Mary McCormack and Shelia Johnson. The Michigan House race results can be found online at the above link.
The results for Michigan and nationwide for president, U.S. Senate and U.S. Congress will not be released until late tonight November 6th or tomorrow November 7th. This is due to our partner’s, My Voice National Student Mock Election, decision to extend the national voting deadline by 5 days (to Nov. 6th at 6:00p.m. EST) to accommodate schools on the East Coast affected by Hurricane Sandy. Michigan results for the national races will be compiled with all 50 states and will be available here.
Acting Executive Director Michelle Webb said, “There were over 55,000 K-12 students and approximately 250 schools registered to vote in the student mock election in Michigan. Although not all of those registered actually voted, we are pleased with the participation that we received, particularly since this is only the second year that MGTV has coordinated the statewide event.”
