State Troopers Helping with Sandy Relief
The Michigan State Police is deploying uniformed officers to New Jersey to help the New Jersey State Police in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
The New Jersey State Police asked for the assistance.
Twenty-four Michigan state troopers will leave the Jackson Post on Sunday for a seven–day deployment.
They’ll be on patrol from next Monday through next Friday.
This is only the second time in its history that the Michigan State Police has deployed officers to another state.
That other time was in 2005, when Michigan state troopers went to Louisiana to help in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
