U.P. State Fair Attendance
This is the U.P. State Fair’s 85th anniversary.
So how is attendance looking halfway through the fair week?
More than 60,000 people paid to attend the State Fair last year, a 5% increase from 2010 levels.
The fair is on pace to exceed last year’s figure if Mother Nature doesn’t show up with heavy rain.
You may think the middle of the week would be slow, with many possible guests busy with work or other activities, but the fair has seen improved mid–week attendance this year.
Delta County Chamber of Commerce executive director Vickie Micheau says they ran a promotion yesterday afternoon.
From 3 pm to 4 pm, they cut the adult admission price from $8 to $3 and they had nearly 2,000 paid guests during that hour.
Micheau says the annual Governor’s Luncheon with Governor Rick Snyder drew record attendance this afternoon as well.
The State Fair continues through Sunday.
