Rower finishes her journey
After facing tremendous hardships, one rowers journey to raise money for cancer survivors has come to a victorious ending.
Jennifer Gibbons of Battle Creek Michigan, was greeted by the cheers and admiration of numerous supporters as she pulled into the Chicago Yacht Club today capping off her 1,500 mile trip around Lake Michigan.
Gibbons was using the trip to help raise money for her charity that helps breast cancer survivors rehab by rowing.
Perhaps the most inspiring park about her journey is that she continued to row even after surviving a sexual assault while she was sleeping on her boat.
Gibbons said ” I learned about myself, and I learned that I’m extremely strong and a lot stronger than I thought I was.”
Her rowing efforts reportedly raised $113,000 for her charity.
