Police arrested 3 in stolen car incident in Negaunee
One police car was hit as multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the call of a stolen vehicle in the city of Negaunee Monday night.
Just after 11p.m. law enforcement officers from the Marquette Police, Marquette County Sheriff’s Department, Ishpeming Police, and the Negaunee Police surrounded three vehicles outside the Citgo Gas Station in Negaunee.
A witness on scene at the gas station tells ABC 10 News Now that while he was pumping gas, a Negaunee Police car pulled over the suspected stolen vehicle, a black Jeep Cherokee. The witness said that after the Jeep was pulled over it reversed and rammed into the police car several times. The witness said the police drew their guns and ordered everyone on the ground.
Police say two men and one woman have been arrested in connection to the incident.
The Marquette City Police K-9 Unit officer said the Jeep and a tan Buick Century were both searched for drugs. The K-9 dog alerted the officer of drugs in both cars, but the officer said it appeared the drugs were ditched before they were able to find them. Police say they did find a container that once had Marijuana inside.
The investigation is continuing.
