One man dies in Ontonagon County crash
Police are investigating a fatal rollover crash that killed a man in Ontonagon.
The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Department says 35-year-old Steele Blue Veldman was traveling east on M-64 near Superior Way when he went off the road to the right…lost control of his vehicle…and veered left crossing the highway.
The vehicle then overturned and ran into the brush. Veldman was ejected from the vehicle.
He was taken to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Veldman also worked as a nurse at the hospital. An official from Aspirus Ontonagon declined to comment on the incident.
The victim was not wearing a seatbelt. Officials say that and speed were factors in the accident.
