Pine Creek Fire Update

The Duck Lake fire isn’t the only large wildfire in the U.P. that crews are contending with.

The Seney National Wildlife Refuge has had the Pine Creek fire burning since a lightning strike on Monday.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says the blaze has burned about 3,400 acres of land.

It’s now about 70 percent contained, and there have been no new areas burning within the last two to three days.

Firefighting crews are trying to establish a perimeter around the remaining portion of the burn zone.
