Ontario Man Sentenced to Prison
MARQUETTE, MICHIGAN —Daniel H. Sundstrom, 50, of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada, was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for attempting to reenter the United States after being removed from the country, U.S. Attorney Donald A. Davis announced today. In addition to the prison term, Senior U.S. District Judge R. Allan Edgar ordered Sundstrom to pay a $100 special assessment.
Sundstrom pleaded guilty to a federal indictment charging him with reentry by a removed alien on December 21, 2011. Sundstrom had been removed from the United States in 2010 following his conviction in California of attempted sexual battery involving a 15 year old girl. He was prohibited from entering the United States
for ten years following his removal.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Paul D. Lochner and Maarten Vermaat prosecuted it.
