Two Students arrested in Menominee High Bomb Threat

Police in Menominee County have arrested two students for making a bomb threat Tuesday at Menominee High School.

The threat was reported at 12:27 p.m. Tuesday.

The Menominee County Juvenile Crime Investigator/School Resource Officer Corporal Brian Helfert and the Menominee City Police Department investigated the incident.

Students were sheltered at the school and emergency responders remained on the scene for about three hours.

The students, 17 and 18 years old, were arrested at the school.

The penalty for a False Report or Threat of a Bomb/Harmful Device is punishable by up to four years in prison and/or $2,000 in fines, plus the costs to the government for responding to a false report. Those costs could exceed $10,000. The students can also face suspension and/or expulsion from the school district.

The Menominee County Sheriff’s Department issued a plea to parents today to discuss this issue with children.

Menominee County Sheriff Kenny Marks said, “Bomb threats will not be tolerated! We will find those who are responsible. It is a terroristic act and it will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!”
