U.P. Teen in m2020 Scholarship Contes finals
Jacob Wolf, a senior at Marquette Senior High School, is a finalist in the mi2020 Video Scholarship Competition. The winner of the finals will receive a $10,000 scholarship.
Wolf, who entered the contest as a project for the MSHS Scriptwriting class, was one of 54 entrants whose videos were streamed on the web at www.mi2020video.com. The public was invited to view and vote for their favorite videos, with the top 10 vote totals advancing to the final round.
“It feels awesome, just great,” said Wolf when asked how it felt to make the final round. “It shows all the support our community has for our students. I’m really satisfied with the way my video turned out and I think it’s going to be a winner.”
The competition is sponsored and promoted by the Michigan Senate Democrats. Each entrant produced a short video (under 90 seconds) that tells why the Michigan 2020 Plan, a proposal that would provide college tuition to all high school graduates, would benefit Michigan and its families. Wolf’s video can be seen at http://mi2020video.com/videos/33l2.
Wolf said a $10,000 scholarship would make a difference in his life for years to come. “It will make it easier to go to college and grad school (after that). It’ll lighten the burden of debt significantly,” he said.
In the finals, a panel of judges will rank the videos based on message, originality and creativity. The public is again asked to vote for its favorite, with points awarded to the finalist based on vote totals. Cast your vote now for Wolf’s video at http://mi2020video.com/videos/33l2.
The winner will be notified on or about May 31.
