Child Abuse Forget-Me-Nots
A family–oriented nonprofit group was at work planting this afternoon to help the community remember the effects of child abuse.
Teaching Family Homes of Upper Michigan planted a garden of forget–me–nots at its campus in Harvey.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and residential director Jamie Dieterle says the garden symbolizes the family lives of the children Teaching Family Homes helps.
Of course, April is usually still a winter month in the U.P.
But shortly after Child Abuse Prevention Month ends each year, Dieterle says the flowers should bloom as a symbol of the strength and resiliency of young people.
Some other local residents also came by Teaching Family Homes to help the kids and the staff plant the flowers and bulbs.
