Severe Weather Week
We’ve had all sorts of weather this week that Governor Rick Cnyder has declared as Severe Weather Awareness Week in the State.
The National Weather Service says Michigan experienced an average year for severe weather in 2011: with four deaths and 31 injuries from severe weather. All of the deaths and injuries resulted from either lightning or thunderstorm winds.
The rain we’ve had this week is also a welcome relief. The Department of Natural Resources says fire danger is low right now, but the is expected to go back to “high” or “very high” unless the rainy conditions continue.
