Senator Stabenow Visits the Copper Country
Senator Debbie Stabenow is making stops in the Upper Peninsula this week. Today she was in the Copper Country to tour a small but growing local company.
Stabenow has been closely tied with GS Engineering in Houghton since its early days in a business incubator. The company focuses on lightweight engineering for the military and had now branched into the commercial market.
The Senator touted how investing in small business like these lead to jobs for the area. The Keweenaw peninsula is home to three of the bottom five counties in Michigan in terms of unemployment.
Stabenow says efforts are underway to turn that around.
After the meeting, Stabenow visited the Michigan Tech Campus to get a first hand look at the fabulous snow statues.
