Players De Noc Dinner Theater event to be hosted by Island Resort in August
HARRIS – The Island Resort & Casino, in collaboration with Players De Noc, invites you to a delightful and romantic Dinner Theater presentation titled “Wendy and Wendell’s Wonderful Wacky WASP Wedding!” Prepare for an evening filled with twists, turns, wedding toasts, and a touch of audience participation. Mark your calendars for Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the Island Convention Center.
The event kicks off with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. Eastern, followed by dinner and the wedding at 6:00 p.m. VIP tickets are available for $75, offering special gift bags and preferred seating. Based on the book by Christopher King, the storyline revolves around Wendy and Wendell, two young individuals from neighboring affluent towns who have decided to get married twice. The groom’s family has already celebrated a formal wedding, and now the bride’s family insists on a “hand-fasting” ceremony performed by a Wiccan priestess. As a compromise, the ceremony takes place during the reception at a classy inn. However, professional hostess Helen Hunt didn’t anticipate an intoxicated granny and great aunt, unexpected parents, a quirky admiral, an ambitious bridesmaid, and a best man harboring secret love for the groom. Audience members also discover surprising family connections. Multiple unions are sealed, and all live harmoniously ever after, albeit with a touch of cantankerousness.
