Marquette Police Warning of Scams

Marquette Police Department has been receiving reports of online and telephone scams.
According to a MPD press release, the suspects are usually pretending to represent a government agency, law enforcement agency, online acquaintance, or financial institution requesting immediate payment of a fine or debt.
The suspects request the payment in the form of gift or prepaid debit cards.
The Marquette Police Department reminds citizens that these requests are scams and are not legitamate. Anyone receiving communications similar to this should not follow through with the request.
