Rep. Bergman visits Marquette, hopes to bring broadband internet to rural areas
MARQUETTE — Representative Jack Bergman stopped in Marquette today, as he tries to win reelection against opponent Dana Ferguson.
If reelection, Bergman says he’ll work to bring high–speed internet to rural places like the Upper Peninsula, to improve connectivity.
“My focus is, as well as others, Democrat and Republican, is going to be rural broadband, high-speed internet connectivity. Think about in the 1930’s, when the United States Government partnered with industry to bring electricity to rural America. Well, it’s time, here, 80-plus years later, to bring broadband connectivity throughout the entire rural and remote America, so we can do our business, everyday daily life business, just like they can do in the cities.”
