The Vista Theater has been closed ever since the roof cave. The historic building has been a staple of Negaunee for decades. The Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council hope that the reconstruction will be able to bring life back to the town.

PAAC President Rusty Bowers says, “It’s gonna help us, it’s gonna help Negaunee and bring back the jewel of downtown.”

Several Negaunee high school alumni are donating to the project. The alumni have made it interesting by making it a friendly competition among donators. NHS Fran Lukkarinen, class member of 1969 says, “If there is a class out there that can do better than us, we don’t care. The important thing is we are helping to save this building.” This was after her class donated a check of $2,309.

Several other classes have donated amounts ranging from $1000 to $100.
