Unemployment in Michigan
UPPER PENINSULA — According to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget, the rates are down all across Michigan. Yoopers are getting back to working.
Unemployment numbers are out for the month of September. The Upper Peninsula has the lowest unemployment rate in all of Michigan’s 17 regions.
The pandemic has put the unemployment rate to 8.4 percent.
Here in the UP, we had the lowest increase in jobless rates at 2.2 percent. The largest increase in rates in Muskegon at 7.2 percent.
Employment gains range from 1.4 to 3.3 percent across Michigan.
Michigan’s unemployment claims have the quickest recovery.
Last September, unemployment claims reached 15, 479 and just last week only 7,831 claims have been made.
